Company locations
Company locations give organizational or spatial units a common name. Clear naming makes assignments in storage, organization and evaluation immediately understandable.
Company locations: Orientation without questions
A location is well named when every employee immediately knows which location or organizational unit is meant. Names like “Headquarters Berlin”, “Plant South” or “Service Center West” are more valuable in everyday life than internal abbreviations without context.
Field explains
- Capture locations on desktop Administration > Master data initialization with the desktop button Company locations.
- Location: Clear name of the company location. Use a unified schema when there are multiple branches, plants, or organizational units.
Here's how to do it
- Check the list to see if the location already exists.
- Create a new entry and enter a comprehensible name.
- Save and then check whether the location appears in the selection fields provided.
Good naming
Avoid duplicates such as “Berlin”, “Berlin 1” and “BER” if they all mean the same place. If a distinction must be made between several units in one location, add the function, for example “Berlin – Sales” and “Berlin – Warehouse”.

Frequently asked questions
What goes into the Location field?
A clear designation of the branch, plant or organizational unit that is permanently understandable within the company.
Can I delete a location?
Check beforehand whether it is already assigned to warehouse or other master data. In used structures, deactivation or a planned cleanup is usually safer.
