Countries

The country master creates a clear basis for addresses, telephony and cross-border processes. A few fields determine whether other master data correctly recognizes and uses a country.

Countries: small master data with a large reach

  • Countries are reused in company, partner and address data. A clean country base prevents spelling variants and makes international data reliably evaluable.
  • You can find the overview in Administration > Master data initialization > Countries.

Fields explained

  • Country code: Unique code of the country. Use the standard set by your company and avoid invented variations.
  • Country: Written out name that can be understood by users.
  • EU: Indicates membership of the European Union. Check the current technical status before changing the option.
  • Phone country: International telephone country code as a number, for example 49 for Germany.

How to maintain an entry

  1. Search by code and country name first to avoid duplicates.
  2. Capture code and label consistently.
  3. Check your EU license plate number and telephone area code using a reliable source.
  4. Save and test the selection in an address.

Be careful when deleting

One country can already be used in many addresses. Do not delete any productively used entry without first clarifying the dependencies and a possible replacement assignment.
