Serial numbers

Serial numbers uniquely identify each individual item – from goods receipt through sales and service to tracking.

Your quick start

1. Open Serial numbers in the help desk Storage.
2. Check existing records, statuses and relationships before creating or changing anything.
3. Save consciously and control the result in the immediately following process.

That's what matters

A serial number may not be duplicate or fictitious. Capture it on the actual device and check the complete movement history.

Note

Serial numbers can only be found in items with the Customization type series be recorded. When creating an item, select one item template (see Administration > Master data initialization) with this guy.

Register overview

• Serial number: Assign the unique number. The number can consist of up to 20 characters.
• item: Select the serial number item from the item master data or create a new item.
• Supplier Series: Supplier-side serial number
• Storage info: The storage info is a “small” storage location management. If all quantities of an item are stored in one place, the storage location can be identified without the storage location management having to be activated. You enter the warehouse information in the item master data in the register Storage:
• Guarantee from/to: Note customer and supplier warranty periods.
• Info: Free text field
• Storage report: The warehouse overview provides information about the warehouse and storage location as well as inventory, packed quantity and now available quantity.

Device service register

• All documents are displayed in which the Equipment service is activated (see Doc > Details) and the serial number has been recorded.

History

• With the creation of a storage-effective document, a warehouse transfer or an inventory that results in a change in inventory, an entry is made in the history.
