Postcode: Capture addresses faster and cleaner

• If postal code, city and country are maintained together, a recurring entry becomes a reliable selection. This saves time and prevents the same place from being created in multiple spellings.
• You can find the overview in Administration > Master data initialization > ZIP code.

Fields explained

• Zip code: Postal code in the country's usual spelling. Leading zeros must be retained.
• Location: Associated place name in a uniform spelling.
• Country: Clearly assigns the combination to a country from the country master.
• Tel. location: telephone area code; Maintain it according to your company format standard.

Here's how to do it

1. Check whether the combination of zip code, city and country already exists.
2. Enter the zip code exactly; treat it as an identifier, not a calculation number.
3. Select the correct country and add the area code if necessary.
4. Save and check the entry when entering an address.

Avoid typical mistakes

Do not cut off leading zeros or create a second spelling of the same place. If there are several towns or districts in one postcode, the desired operational rule should be determined in advance.
