Shipping

Shipping connects finished packages with shipping company, shipping method, label and shipment tracking. This turns a packed delivery into a controlled process.

Shipping: The controlled step up to handover

A good shipping process does not start with the label, but with reliable master data and fully inspected packages. X-ERP combines both: The shipping company describes the service provider, the shipping method describes the specific service and the packing list describes the goods that are actually to be shipped.

The three levels of shipping

  • Shipping company: The service provider or freight carrier with a unique identifier, name and stored URL.
  • Shipping method: The company's specific service, for example standard, express or forwarding, with its own service code.
  • Package: The real box with contents, weight, shipping number, date, costs and, if applicable, tracking data.

Recommended process

  1. Set up the shipping company with a stable internal identifier.
  2. Create the shipping methods used and assign each to the correct company.
  3. Completely pack the delivery and check open quantities, weight and serial or batch numbers.
  4. Choose the right packing list and label template.
  5. Lead Send only after the final inspection. The packages are blocked.
  6. Next, generate the shipping label and check the shipping number, tracking URL, and waybill information if provided by the process.
  7. Compare the physically handed over packages with the data in X-ERP.

What X-ERP consciously separates

  • The name makes a data set understandable for employees.
  • The Code clearly connects it with rules or an external assignment.
  • The URL can include a web or interface address; their specific use depends on the shipping solution set up.
  • Shipping costs and currency belong to the specific package or to additional shipping tariffs, not to the name of the shipping company.

Check before delivery

  • Shipping company and shipping method match the order and recipient country.
  • All boxes are complete, correctly weighed and clearly numbered.
  • The label and packing list name the same recipient and the same shipment.
  • Tracking and waybill data belong to the correct package.
  • A connected interface confirmed the process; the click alone is not proof of a successful external transmission.
Shipping quality is demonstrated when the customer, warehouse and service provider clearly recognize the same shipment without any questions.

In the packing form, label output is available after shipping is completed. Check the selected template beforehand.
