Quantity discount

Volume discount: Reward volume without losing control

The quantity discount supplements the basic discount with a second, quantity-dependent condition. Up to five levels – A to E – allow for a gentle or targeted price progression.

Fields of the relay

• Quantity level A–E: Quantity from which the respective level applies. A value of 0 means that this level is not used.
• Quantity discount A–E (%): Additional discount that is applied when the associated quantity is reached.

X-ERP checks the levels of E to A. The highest active level reached wins. Therefore the quantity values must increase from A to E.

Example

• A: from 10 pieces = 2%
• B: from 25 pieces = 4%
• C: from 50 pieces = 6%

For quantity 30, level B applies at 4%. This quantity discount is in addition to the item and document discounts.

Sales and purchasing

In sales, the customer's appropriate discount group and the item group are sufficient. In purchasing, the scale only applies if the supplier item entry is assigned to the discount group.

The document type (see Administration > Master data initialization > Doc list) can determine whether the quantity discount recalculated if the quantity changes will. If the recalculation is active, the position jumps to the appropriate level when a threshold is exceeded or fallen below. If it is switched off, the previous value remains.

Check before sharing

• Levels A to E rise without overlap.
• Each level used has a percentage value.
• The additional discount is economically justifiable together with the basic and voucher discount.
• Purchase price lists are only assigned where the scale should apply.
• A test with quantities directly below, at, and above each threshold was performed.

Typical mistake

If level C contains a smaller quantity than level B, the alphabetical order is visually correct, but the technical logic is not. X-ERP decides based on the highest test fulfilled - not based on your intended meaning.
