Multilingual reports

Localization saves language-dependent texts and layout values in a template so that X-ERP can output documents that match the document language.

Open Report designer on the desktop Administration.

Your goal

You can add a language, maintain texts in the localization editor and check the output with different document languages.

Why this is crucial in the report designer

A professional report not only translates words, but preserves meaning and layout. X-ERP can apply the appropriate saved localization based on the document language to document-related templates.

Elements and settings at a glance

• Language: Designer View Active Language; Existing localizations are highlighted.
• Default: Complete initial version to which the report can fall back.
• Localization Editor: Tabular editing of localizable texts for the selected language.
• Component: The affected report element.
• Property/Path: Localizable property, usually text, possibly position or size.
• Localized Value: Language-dependent value saved with the template.
• Document language: X-ERP context that selects the appropriate localization for integrated document reports.

Here's how to do it

1. Complete and check the default language.
2. Select or add the target language in the designer.
3. Open the localization editor and translate all customer-visible text.
4. Check font, width, wrapping and alignment in the target language.
5. Save and generate X-ERP test documents with different languages.

Exercise

Localize titles, column headers, total labels and footer text into a second language. Intentionally use a longer translation and adjust the layout without truncating.

Check the result

• Any solid visible text is translated.
• Data fields themselves are not accidentally overwritten as static text.
• Special characters and decimal/date formats are correct.
• X-ERP selects the expected language version for the test document.

Typical errors and their solutions

• Default incomplete: Missing translations reflect unclear or empty initial values.
• Switch designer language only: This alone does not produce well-maintained report localization.
• Optimize layout for short language only: Longer texts are cut off or move content.

Your result

A single template communicates consistently with international recipients and remains centrally maintainable.
