Shipping company: Clearly specify the service provider

Shipping companies create order between the names people use and the identifiers that processes and interfaces require. A clean system prevents confusion and makes each assigned shipping method unique.

How to create a shipping company

1. Open the desktop button Shipping company on the desktop Storage and press New:
2. Match the identifier with existing interface or mapping specifications.
3. Use a clear name that the warehouse and shipping department can clearly recognize.
4. Only store the URL if its purpose is specified in the shipping concept.
5. Save the record.
6. Then create the specific shipping methods and assign them to this company.

Fields and their function

• ID: Unique internal key and identifier of the shipping company. The identifier can only be set when creating a new file and is write-protected after saving.
• Name: Understandable name of the service provider. The name is a mandatory field and cannot appear twice.
• Url: Optional internet or interface address. Which address is required here depends on the shipping solution used.

Check especially

• The identifier and name really refer to the same service provider.
• There is no second record for the same provider.
• The URL is complete and uses the intended protocol.
• Existing shipping methods point to the right company.

The identifier is the stable technical identity, the name is the readable designation. Both should consciously be maintained separately.
