Shipping methods

Shipping types describe the specific shipping service - such as standard, express or forwarding company - and clearly assign it to a shipping company.

Shipping methods: Make it possible to select the right service

A shipping company can offer several services. The shipping method turns this into a concrete, selectable option and combines the understandable name with a unique service code.

How to set up a shipping method

  1. Check which shipping company services are actually used.
  2. Open the desktop button Shipping methods on the desktop Storage and give it a name that clearly indicates performance or scope.
  3. Take the shipping method code exactly from your internal specifications or the interface documentation.
  4. Assign the correct shipping company.
  5. Only enter a URL if a separate address is provided for this service.
  6. Save and then test the selection in the intended shipping process.

Fields and their function

  • Name: Readable designation of the shipping method, for example “Standard Domestic” or “Express”. The name is a mandatory field and must be unique.
  • Shipping method code: Unique technical code of the service. It can be used for rules, mappings and interfaces and cannot appear twice.
  • Carrier: Mandatory assignment to the shipping company that provides this service.
  • URL: Optional internet or interface address specifically for this shipping method. Their specific use depends on the integration set up.

Good shipping methods are clear

  • “Express” without a service provider or area reference can be too unclear.
  • Codes should not be reused for convenience.
  • Only delete or change used data sets after checking existing packages and integrations.
The name helps people choose. The code ensures that rules and interfaces also understand exactly the same service.
