Packing list items answer the crucial detailed question: Which item is in which box, with which quantity and which serial or batch number?

Packing list items: The exact contents of each box

A packing list item connects a document item with a specific package. This not only makes it possible to see what was sent, but also which box an item is in and which individual number belongs to it.

Fields and their meaning

  • Box ID: Unique number of the package to which the item is assigned.
  • Box type: Packaging type of box.
  • Picking list: Document number of the associated packing list.
  • Packing list date: Date of the underlying document.
  • Shipping number: Box shipping reference.
  • Position number: Position within the original document.
  • Document item: Direct link to the original document line.
  • Item number: Unique number of the packaged item.
  • Item matchcode: Search and short name of the item.
  • Quantity: Quantity of this item in this exact box.
  • Series/batch: Assigned serial or batch number for customized items.
  • Match code: Search term of the partner or recipient.
  • Info: Additional brief information about the position, if available.

Typical tests

  • The sum of the packing list items corresponds to the actually packed quantity.
  • The position belongs to the right box and the right receiver.
  • Serial numbers are unique; Batch quantities match the physical goods.
  • Packing list, shipping number and original position result in a complete chain.
A packing list item is a proof data record. Corrections belong in the packaging process, not in an isolated subsequent change.
