Images, barcodes and page information

Logos create recognition, product images provide orientation, barcodes connect paper and process and page information keeps long documents navigable.

Open Report designer on the desktop Administration.

Your goal

You can correctly place, scale and connect image, barcode and page info with static or dynamic values.

Why this is crucial in the report designer

These elements seem small, but connect the report to brand, logistics and navigation. When used correctly, they save queries and manual entries.

Elements and settings at a glance

• Picture box: Shows static or data related images.
• Image Source / Expression: Determines where the image comes from; Availability depends on X-ERP data and security clearances.
• Sizing: Determines whether an image is cropped, fitted, centered, or stretched.
• Barcode symbology: Barcode type like Code 128 or QR; must fit the reader, content and process.
• Text/expression: Value that is encoded in the barcode.
• Car modules: Automatically adjusts line or module width to the available size.
• Page Info: Shows date, page number, total page number or custom page information.

Here's how to do it

1. Clarify the purpose, source, and required quality of the image or code.
2. Place the item in the correct band.
3. For dynamic content, bind the appropriate field or expression.
4. Select size mode, orientation and, for barcodes, the correct symbolism.
5. Check printout, scannability and multi-page display with real devices.

Exercise

Include a logo in the page header, “Page X of Y” in the page footer, and a test barcode with a short item number. Print the report and scan the code.

Check the result

• Images are sharp, undistorted and not unnecessarily large.
• Barcode content exactly matches the visible value.
• The code can be scanned from the actual printing distance.
• Page numbers are complete on all pages.

Typical errors and their solutions

• Stretch image: Distorted logo or product representation; Maintain aspect ratio.
• Barcode content too long: Makes the code unreadable given the area.
• Page number in ReportFooter: Only appears at the end instead of on every page.
